Flag Day (Documentary)
“Flag Day” is a verité documentary set in Three Oaks, Michigan, a small farming community known for hosting the nation’s largest Flag Day parade. The film examines how the town’s annual ritual expresses American identity, memory, tradition, and belonging during a period of political division.
Filmed over Flag Day weekend, it follows veterans, business owners, marching-band members, volunteers, and other residents as they prepare the parade. Through moments of humor, conflict, and tenderness, the documentary considers both the strengths and vulnerabilities of community life and asks what can still unite people in contemporary America.
