Die Spitz
Die Spitz brings its volatile blend of punk, hardcore, metal, alternative rock, grunge, and more to Union Transfer, with Faetooth joining the bill. The Austin quartet—Ava Schrobilgen, Chloe De St. Aubin, Eleanor Livingston, and Kate Halter—combines forceful songwriting with a famously riotous live presence and a strong sense of friendship, independence, and political purpose.
The band’s debut album, *Something to Consume*, explores the many forms of consumption that shape modern life, including addiction, love, social pressure, and political complacency. Across its 11 tracks, Die Spitz moves from classic punk and thrash-inspired material to grunge, acoustic-driven rock, and heavier passages. Songs such as “Pop Punk Anthem,” “Throw Yourself to the Sword,” “RIDING WITH MY GIRLS,” “Go Get Dressed,” “Voir Dire,” and “Punishers” address obsession, empowerment, insecurity, American globalism, difficult relationships, and the need to resist passivity.
Die Spitz formed in Austin in 2022, with several members having known one another since childhood. The group shares songwriting, vocals, and instrumental duties, and Halter learned bass specifically to help start the band. Their name was chosen over a “brown bag of Fireball,” with the band selecting the feminine German article. Influenced by artists including Black Sabbath, Pixies, Mudhoney, PJ Harvey, and Nirvana, they have opened for OFF!, Amyl and the Sniffers, Viagra Boys, and Sleater-Kinney. Their live shows can include cartwheels, crowdsurfing while playing bass, climbing into venue rafters, and performances from atop the bar.
