Thu, Sep 10, 2026 – Thu, May 13, 2027
219 S. 6th Street, Philadelphia, PA

Featuring: Bradley Owen, Ph.D.

The Philosophy Discussion Group: The Meaning of Life is a monthly Athenaeum discussion series led by Bradley Owen, Ph.D. Participants will examine competing philosophical views about whether life has meaning, using *The Meaning of Life*, edited by E. D. Klemke. The readings are organized around three themes: whether life is meaningless without God, whether life can be meaningful without belief in God, and whether the question of life’s meaning is itself significant or legitimate.

The first meeting will consider the book’s introduction and Leo Tolstoy’s “My Confession.” The pace of subsequent discussions will be determined by the participants.

When: Thursday, September 10 through Thursday, May 13

Showtimes: Meetings begin at 12:00 PM and take place monthly on the second Thursday: September 10, October 8, November 12, December 10, January 14, February 11, March 11, April 8, and May 13.
