Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat brings the 1995 video-game adaptation to the Ambler Theater in a special 35mm screening. In the film, Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, and Sonya Blade are selected by the thunder god Raiden to compete in a lethal tournament that will determine Earth’s fate. They face legendary opponents such as Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Shang Tsung while battling the forces of Outworld. The film is known for its martial-arts showdowns, memorable dialogue, and high-energy techno score.
The screening is followed by a live Mortal Kombat video-game tournament at the theater. The competition uses a classic gaming console and is limited to eight participants in a single-elimination format. Tournament registration is first come, first served. If at least eight people have not signed up by Friday 11/6, the in-person tournament will be canceled.
