The Art of Adventure
The Art of Adventure is an inspiring documentary about the lifelong friendship between renowned wildlife artist Robert Bateman and biologist Bristol Foster. The film follows their extraordinary 1957 trip around the world, when they traveled with a 16mm camera and an artist’s brush, documenting a natural environment that was still largely wild and untouched.
Blending nature, art, and activism, the documentary explores how Bateman and Foster each worked to defend the natural world through different means: Bateman through his paintings and Foster through science. Now in their nineties, they continue to find refuge in nature. Their story reflects on friendship, courage, curiosity, legacy, aging, and the enduring importance of humanity’s connection to the environment.
