TWO LOVERS

Two Lovers is a 2008 romantic drama directed by James Gray. Joaquin Phoenix plays a heartbroken bachelor torn between two very different women: a dependable neighbor played by Vinessa Shaw and an unpredictable woman portrayed by Gwyneth Paltrow. The film presents a deeply conflicted love triangle against Gray’s emotionally intense style.

The screening is part of the Philadelphia Film Society’s James Gray Director Series, a retrospective celebrating Gray’s career and his longstanding focus on dramatic stories connected to New York City and family history.
