Toronzo Cannon
Toronzo Cannon brings his contemporary blues to Sellersville Theater 1894, combining emotionally direct original songs with fiery guitar playing and commanding vocals. His music draws on blues legends such as Hound Dog Taylor, Muddy Waters, Elmore James, Albert King, Son Seals, and Jimi Hendrix, while reflecting Cannon’s distinctly personal sound.
The concert features material from his Alligator Records album *Shut Up and Play!*, whose 11 originals move from heartbreak and social alienation to humor drawn from everyday life. A Chicago native, Cannon began playing guitar at age 22 after growing up surrounded by live blues and records in his grandfather’s home. He has received 10 Blues Music Award nominations, appeared at the Chicago Blues Festival 10 times, and performed extensively throughout the United States and internationally. His live shows are known for powerful guitar solos and an enthusiastic audience response.
