Laughs in Spanish
Laughs in Spanish is a fast-paced comedy set during Art Basel in Miami. When Mariana’s gallery loses all of its artwork just before its biggest event, her intern Carolina and Carolina’s police-officer boyfriend scramble to recover the missing pieces or substitute Carolina’s own art. The situation becomes even more chaotic with the arrival of Mariana’s glamorous film-star mother and Jenny, Carolina’s former boarding-school crush. Blending family tensions, romance, ambition, and telenovela-style drama, the play explores the complicated relationship between mothers and daughters with plenty of cafecito-fueled humor.
Written by Alexis Scheer, the production is performed in English. Audience members are invited to laugh in Spanish.
