The Sacred Art of Ethiopia explores the living artistic heritage of one of the world’s oldest Christian civilizations. The exhibition features Ethiopian interpretations of biblical stories, expressed through distinctive visual traditions shaped by the country’s cultural and spiritual history while conveying themes shared by Christians worldwide.

On view are works made within the past 30 to 50 years, including hammered-metal processional and pectoral crosses, folding icons, and paintings on leather and parchment. These paintings draw on biblical subjects and the style of traditional Ethiopian illuminated manuscripts. The works are lent by the Bowden Collections, a group of traveling sacred- and biblical-art exhibitions assembled by Sandra Bowden.

Showtimes: Tuesday–Sunday, 1:00–4:30 p.m.
