Jazz Philadelphia Summit 2026
Jazz Philadelphia Summit 2026, the “Offering Edition,” revisits John Coltrane’s Philadelphia legacy through the theme of giving and receiving across generations. Held 60 years after Coltrane recorded *Offering: Live at Temple University* in Mitten Hall, the summit brings together Coltrane’s peers—including musicians who performed on the original 1966 recording—for first-person reflections on the recording’s significance and its contribution to Philadelphia’s jazz tradition.
The program extends beyond historical tribute with a keynote address and panel discussion focused on what Philadelphia’s jazz community can give and receive in the present, and what attendees can commit to carrying forward. It also includes a John Coltrane exhibition curated by the Charles L. Blockson Afro-American Collection, featuring archival materials that place *Offering* within the broader story of Coltrane’s life and Philadelphia jazz. Community partners will provide information about local programs, opportunities, and support. The summit is the culminating event of the Coltrane 100 Philly centennial season and the opening event of a two-day celebration.
