Amanda Lynn Bottoms, mezzo; Eunjoo Jeon, piano
Mezzo-soprano Amanda Lynn Bottoms, winner of the 2025 Musical Fund Society Career Advancement Award, presents a recital honoring Florence Quivar, the legendary mezzo-soprano and Philadelphia native. Inspired by Quivar’s wide-ranging career, Bottoms considers the name Florence—derived from Latin words associated with blossoming, flourishing, and prosperity—as a framework for a program celebrating Quivar’s grace, dignity, resilience, and sincerity both on and beyond the stage.
With pianist Eunjoo Jeon, Bottoms performs music by Gabriel Fauré, Johannes Brahms, William Bolcom, and Florence Price, along with a selection of spirituals. The program is designed as a tribute to Quivar’s artistic legacy and the qualities that have defined her career.
