Network
Network is a sharply observed 1976 satire about television news, corporate power, and the pursuit of sensationalism. Peter Finch plays an aging news anchor whose network executives intend to retire him, prompting an unexpected reaction that leads an ambitious producer, played by Faye Dunaway, to pursue increasingly provocative programming. The film features an acclaimed ensemble cast including Robert Duvall and William Holden, and remains pointed in its criticism of sensationalized news and corporate greed.
The screening is part of a Cinema Studies Seminar, offering attendees the chance to discuss the film with fellow students and the instructor. Those attending only the screening may enter beginning at 7:00 p.m.
