Charlie Parr
Charlie Parr brings his roots-oriented folk and blues to MilkBoy Philadelphia, with Nashville singer-songwriter Maisy Owen opening the evening. A Minnesota-born guitarist, songwriter, and interpreter of traditional music, Parr has released 19 albums over more than two decades and is known for an exceptionally active touring schedule. His music draws on the working-class traditions of Lead Belly, Woody Guthrie, and other folk and blues predecessors, blending timeless roots sounds with reflective, poetic songwriting.
Maisy Owen’s fingerpicked guitar and expressive vocals reflect influences including Nick Drake, Bert Jansch, Mazzy Star, and David Olney. Her debut album, *Dark On A Sunny Day*, was released in May 2026 on Tompkins Square and produced by Robin Eaton. The album’s melancholic melodies and darkly poetic writing have received attention from outlets including MOJO, Uncut, The Bluegrass Situation, KCRW, BBC Radio, and Nashville Scene.
