NASH THE SLASH RISES AGAIN!
NASH THE SLASH RISES AGAIN! makes its Philadelphia premiere at PhilaMOCA. The film explores the 40-year career of Nash the Slash, the masked and bandage-wrapped Canadian electronic music innovator known for performing in a white tuxedo and top hat while playing violin and other instruments through layers of electronics, distortion, and melody.
The documentary follows his unconventional musical vision, which combined elements of progressive, punk, classic, and psychedelic rock with techno and industrial sounds before those styles were widely established. It also considers his work and performances alongside artists including Iggy Pop, Gary Numan, The Who, The Tubes, and Devo. Iggy Pop praised him as “so unusual and brilliant,” while Rolling Stone critic Lester Bangs described him as an opening act capable of making the headliner work harder.
