Program: A dual performance by Boe Harris and Richie Olivera, followed by a guided tour of the Living in the Present exhibition in the Jefferson Lobby.

Boe Harris: Harris is an enrolled citizen of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa with Chippewa and Dakota ancestry. A Northern Traditional and Jingle Dress dancer, poet, and Indigenous traditional-flute musician, she focuses her work on education and expanding appreciation for Indigenous peoples, histories, and cultures.

Richie Olivera: Olivera is a Quechua musician from Lima, Peru, whose work is grounded in Andean musical traditions. He began learning the quena, a notched reed flute, and zampoña, or panpipes, at age 12, studying alongside community elders before performing with his brother and other musicians in Lima. Since moving to the United States in 2007, he has combined his traditional instrumentation with influences from jazz, rock, Celtic music, and other global styles. His performances include solo and collaborative work at venues such as Princeton’s Café Improv and the annual Andes Festival.

Theme: The evening explores the meeting of northern and southern Indigenous traditions through music, storytelling, and visual culture.
